Re: KA Sails 2010
Quelques détails sur le développement de la Ka Race, et les différences qu'il y aura avec la Ka Koncept.
"The Race is still in final development with a set of Proto's due for testing soon. As of yet we have not done direct back to back testing against the Koncept but I can give you a pretty good idea of what you can expect.
The KaRace has been designed for Pro-level slalom racing in the small sizes and Formula Racing in the large sizes. It is shorter in the luff, longer in the boom, has a full width luff sleeve, more luff round and higher skin tensions. This combined with the 8 battens and 4 or 5 cams gives the sail a stiffer feel than the Koncept. It is also physically heavier. The benefit is more draft stabilty, better accelleration and a wider wind range. The sail is finer in the entry as well which helps the upwind ability.
Top speed, well I would be speculating until we test these next proto,s but expect the Race to be faster upwind and on tight speed courses but maybe have no advantage on downwind speed courses where the Koncept really thrives.
.So if I can say don't really stress about it, we will have more knowledge soon when we can do some back to back and GPS testing at Sandy Point.
The Koncept has also gained from the Ka Race development with a change to the outline which will improve it,s range ,speed and accelleration. It will be no means playing second fidle to the Race, just has a different focus."

"The 9.0m KA Race is a great sail, a little bit heavier than the 9.0m Koncept which i expected with 2 extra cams and extra batten but it's definetly more stable, feels a little more powerful and has better performance upwind which is perfect for the slalom racing i will be doing this year."
