Dear speed sailors,
We are proud to announce the 2013 “Luderitz Speed Challenge”.
With the successes and development of the event over the past few years, we have seen the best speed sailors in the world of Kitesurfing and Windsurfing. Please find below the new registration regulations :
Between 4 and 6 weeks competition (depending on the number of entries):
WEEK 1: From 7 Oct to 13 Oct (max 30 riders)
WEEK 2: From 14 Oct to 20 Oct (max 30 riders)
WEEK 3:”Elite” From 21 Oct to 27 Oct (max 20 riders)
WEEK 4:”Elite” From 28 Oct to 3 Nov (max 20 riders)
WEEK 5:”Elite” From 4 Nov to 10 Nov (max 20 riders)
WEEK 6:”Elite” From 11 Nov to 17 Nov (max 20 riders)
The first 2 weeks depend on the number of riders competing for only 1 week or for 2 weeks. If WEEK 1 is not full, we will cancel it and maintain only WEEK 2 as it would not be viable to run the event.
“ELITE-competitors” : Windsurfers who have achieved at least 47 knots over 500m ratified by WSSRC (40 knots for females) will be given priority. The last places will be offered to the TOP GPS ranking riders and the one who can attest a good position on a World or European ranking - preference will be given in order of application - ie. first come first serve.
WEEK1 and WEEK 2: For Windsurfers and few Kitesurfers. The selection will be done on request but you need to send a proof of national performances in speed on WSSRC or GPS Overall ranking in order for your application to be considered.

Please notice that windsurfers who have done over 47 knots, the top riders on GPS and the legends of speed sailing are not allowed the first two weeks. The first two weeks are for riders who want to do/improve national records or personal best.
RATE :
1000euros / week.

The building and the maintenance of the channel
The use of the channel
WSSRC ratification
Official Time Keeping System
Shuttle for transportation to and from the start
International communication with TV Shows
Pictures and videos

The 20 selected for the “Elite” period and the 30 riders for the first 2 weeks will receive their confirmation to do the payment before the 31st of March.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE WILL CONFIRM EACH APPLICATION AFTER THE COMPETITOR HAS REGISTERED & PAID
Please be aware that:
Rules will be made to make the water start easy for each competitor as not to loose time when conditions are good.
Each rider will have a certain amount of time (depending on conditions) to enter the channel otherwise he will need to pass his turn and go to the back to the queue. In certain conditions, the fluency of the runs need to be fast in order to keep a safe distance in between competitors. It’s important to realise that it’s a World Record Attempt with the best riders.
