tu as fait ton timide ou bien tu es allé les voir au loft ?

On est passé au loft un peu à l'improviste. On a pu taper la discut' avec Caroline, Art et Phil, l'occasion aussi de discuter des évolutions pour la prochaine TRX ou je ne sais pas comment elle va s'appeler d'ailleurs.

MauiSails TR-XI 2015 :

Artur Szpunar : After 4 months of working on a variety of design options, including different combinations of seam shape and luff curve progressions, aspect ratios, optimum mast length, batten taper and construction, sail body materials, 7 ,8 and 9 batten prototypes, clew positions and cutout depths, we are finally ready to present a preview of our new race sail the TR-XI. With Micah and Phil testing, any concepts that didn't improve performance, trendy or not, were quickly eliminated. Some concepts provided additional insight, such as the experiment with clew positioning, where we learned that lowering the clew pulley slightly on smaller sizes (6.3 and down) gave better overall performance, however a second pulley below was a step too far and compromised acceleration too much. We also found that reducing the cutout depth on the larger Formula sizes (11.0 and 12.0) gave a better combination of leech tension and control. The 7 and 8 batten prototypes had OK performance, but we found that while saving 0.1 or 0.2 KG in physical weight, the "sailing weight" was actually heavier and more importantly, the speed of the 9 batten was without doubt the fastest. The concepts that yielded the best results were those that hide underneath the seams and though harder to market to the layman, are actually more relevant to performance. Lots of time spent adjusting subtle seam shaping and luff curves to increase and optimize the lower sail body profile, while maintaining a smooth transition to a progressive leech twist pattern. The result gave us what we were looking for. Increased acceleration and ability to coast through lulls. More locked stability through out a wide wind range, while maintaining a nice soft feel to the leech. And of course, faster, faster, faster.
