Lancelin Ocean Classic 2012 : 12 au 14 janvier

Le Lancelin Ocean Classic est un événement né il ya 25 ans avec une poignée de concurrents pour un événement d'une journée.
Aujourd'hui, la compétition dure plusieurs jours et attire des milliers de spectateurs.
Lancelin, situé en Australie-Occidentale, a longtemps été une destination pour les surfeurs à travers le monde et est un des endroits plutôt venté.
Le Marathon est une course de 26 km de coursede Ledge Point à la Taverne Endeavour.

Peter Volwater sera présent avec les voiles Machine M-1 d'Avanti Sails mais les prévisions de vent sont faibles :

"The first event of the year is coming up in Lancelin, it’s the infamous Ledge to Lancelin ocean race.

Unfortunately the wind forecast is not all that good, but we’ll be praying for at least a light seabreeze in the afternoon to make the downwinder;
we’re not asking for much!

I’d like to get of a decent start and battle for the winning place: my gear is the very best, so no excuses !"

A priori c'est Peter Volwater qui a remporté le Marathon 2012 dans un vent léger de moins de 15 noeuds !

Malchanceux, Björn Dunkerbeck a cassé son mât peu avant le départ du fameux marathon.
N’ayant pas le temps de regréer, SUI-11 a dû partir avec une voile plus petite.
