J’ai testé le Katana Race 36 (G10) avec mXr Monster 66 et Racing Blade 7m2 (Etang d’Ingril)
Le Katana Race marche très bien dans le petit clapot (20-30cm). Dans le gros clapot ca marche bien mais tes réglages doivent être parfaits et c’est plus physique.

Oui ils ont changé ce sont les UFO wide 30° et 40° d'inclinaison .
Et il y a en plus le UFO weed qui est incliné à 45° avec un profil specifique pour compenser la perte d'appuis due à la forte inclinaison .
Ces 3 ailerons peuvent être utilisés pour faire du speed .
Le 30° est le plus polyvalent pour faire du speed dans toutes les conditions (du travers au grand largue)
Le 40° est plus orienté pour le largue pur ou si il y a un peu d'algue
Le 45° est spécifique pour les algues et peut être utilisé en petite taille pour le speed avec des algues ou le trés abattu .
il est utilisé avec succés en Suéde sur un spot de speed (haga park) avec algues par Markus Emanuelsson , Marcus Richardson, Lars Dahl qui trustent les premières places

What are you trying to achieve with the various models? The aim of fins designer is to propose a range of fins where all users can found they “graal” ! : The fin that fit perfectly with the rider ,board,sail to make the perfect combination stability/control/performance.

What are the limitations of G-10 and G-11 materials? The limitation is when the design reach the limit of the material stiffness . So if those limit are not reach G10 design can be as good as carbon fin ,we prove it at Luderitz.

Are there advantages over glass/glass-carbon/pure carbon fins? the advantage of G10/G11 is the short development cycle . With carbon there is no limit on stiffness regarding outline and thickness but development cycle is very long to found the recipe of carbon layer position and orientation . So it’s better to have a good proven design fin in G10 than a carbon fin not completely tuned due to lack of development !

Will mXr will also brind Carbon fins? For sure because with carbon mold technology we can push the limit of G10 to propose specific product .

What will be the major changes compared to the G-10/G-11 fins you now designed? major changes will be in big size fins , we can design with thinner profile with same stiffness , and use different carbon layer to better control twist and flex in order to propose more fins behavior to sailors .

Test d'un MXR 18 asy

Test un peu court, mais faut continuer les test pour en dire plus

Monté sur une planche de 45 de large et comparé au MXR 20 sym sur planche de 43
Voile 5.7 warp 2013
Plan d’eau ultra flat orienté à 100°
Vent 25/35 mais pas toujours du vent en bas de la voile
Spot, particulier étroit et pas très long

Bon nous sommes clairement ici dans la recherche de speed pur et dur
L’aileron est vraiment petit, on se demande si ca fonctionne quand même !!!

On monte sur la planche, le vent pousse dans la voile et hop, nous sommes au planning

Une fois calé dans les straps on borde et ca accélère fort à très fort
Sur le « run », la planche est assez haute sur l’eau
En appui les 2 ailerons sont similaire, on peux vraiment se caler dessus sans craintes
Le flotteur effleure l’eau et demande à partir à l’abatée, mais dans notre cas, c’est pas possible !!! dommage

Le plus incroyable, est qu’on arrive à remonter le vent, certes il n’y à pas beaucoup d’angle, mais ca se fait vraiment facilement

Prochain test en conditions plus adapté mais si il ne devais y en avoir qu’un, ce serais celui la !!!

Martin van Meurs : We're designing for all possible Luderitz conditions that can happen. All four fins are tested and all have already got day victories behind them. Third from right is the winning Mondial du Vent fin sailed by Antoine Albeau. Right is the known ASY wide based, left for control and tracking in medium/high wind. Second one from the left is for control and safery in nuclear conditions. After last years' attempt many will think Luderitz is easy but we haven't seen anything just yet from mother nature. We're anticipating to that with our range of fins.

Martin van Meurs : Luderitz fins can now be ordered by Luderitz competitors. The fin on which Antoine Albeau won the Mondial du Vent has been optimized further and will be available in Carbon and G10. Carbon version is available only in limited edition. Last year's wide based control fin can also be ordered.
